Nevada City

Just 10 minutes from Harmony Ridge, Nevada City is a charming, lively gold mining town offering top-notch dining, quaint shops, and a vibrant arts community. An abundance of summer events is complemented by winter happenings such as Victorian Christmas, running from Thanksgiving through Christmas, and the Nevada City Film Festival, which been ranked as one of the 10 best film festivals in the country by USA Today. It’s also famous for its 4th of July and Constitution Day parades, and has its own Mardi Gras parade and street fair.

Enjoy endless possibilities for recreation

Less than 10 miles east of Nevada City is Scots Flat Lake, a much-loved local attraction for campers, anglers, and boaters. Other nearby lakes include Bullards Bar, Rollins Reservoir, Lake Spalding, and Donner Lake.

Just minutes to the east are Skillman and White Cloud campgrounds, the Gold Country Equestrian Trail, and Rock Creek Nature Trail.

Hiking and mountain bike trails abound, and the famous Pioneer Trail is parallel to Highway 20 and crosses Phase 1 of the Ridgetop Development.

Be sure to pay a visit to Empire Mine State Historic Park in Grass Valley and learn about one of the oldest, richest gold mines in California.

If mines are your thing, a scenic one-hour drive northeast from Nevada City is the quaint mountain town of Alleghany, home to the oldest operating gold mine in California, the Original Sixteen To One Mine. Even closer is Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, nestled amongst the pine-studded chaparral forest of the Sierra Nevada Foothills and home to the state's largest hydraulic gold mine.
